Common Hand & Upper Limb Conditions
Dr. Shoaib Arshad specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of hand, wrist, and upper limb conditions. Care is tailored to each patient, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based treatment, functional recovery, and patient education. Conditions range from nerve compression and tendon disorders to arthritis, trauma, and sports injuries. Both non-surgical and surgical options are carefully considered.
CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Compression of the median nerve at the wrist causing numbness, tingling, pain, and weakness in the hand, often worse at night or with repetitive use.
TRIGGER FINGER
A condition where a finger locks or clicks during movement due to inflammation of the tendon sheath, commonly affecting the thumb or ring finger.
DUPUYTREN’S DISEASE
A progressive thickening of tissue in the palm that can cause fingers to bend toward the palm and limit hand function over time.
HAND & WRIST ARTHRITIS
Degeneration or inflammation of joints in the hand or wrist leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced grip strength.
WRIST PAIN & INSTABILITY
Pain or weakness in the wrist caused by ligament injury, repetitive strain, or joint instability affecting daily activities and sports.
TENDON INJURIES
Injuries to flexor or extensor tendons that may result in pain, swelling, or difficulty moving the fingers or hand.
NERVE COMPRESSION SYNDROMES
Conditions where nerves are compressed along the arm or wrist, leading to numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain.
HAND & WRIST FRACTURES
Breaks in the bones of the hand or wrist caused by trauma or falls, requiring accurate assessment to restore function.
SPORTS & OVERUSE INJURIES
Injuries caused by repetitive activity or sports, affecting tendons, ligaments, or joints of the hand and upper limb.
GANGLION CYSTS
Benign fluid-filled swellings commonly found around the wrist or hand that may cause discomfort or limit movement.
TENNIS ELBOW (LATERAL EPICONDYLITIS)
Pain on the outer side of the elbow caused by overuse of forearm muscles, often affecting grip and lifting activities.
CUBITAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Compression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow leading to numbness or tingling in the ring and little fingers and hand weakness.
